Advice

The tradition of celebrating anniversaries began in medieval times when a husband would crown his wife with a silver wreath after 25 years and a gold wreath after 50 years of marriage.

Not only has the gold and silver anniversaries become entranced in tradition but there is now a long list of anniversaries for each year of marriage. Listed below are the gifts and flowers associated with each anniversary year.
The reason why diamond appears in both the 60th and 75th years is because in 1897 Queen Victoria celebrated her diamond jubilee after 60 years on the throne, the tradition immediately caught on and became the new customary gift for the 60th year as well as the 75th year.
