Advice
Transport.
There are lots of different ways to transport your guests and yourselves from and to the venue and reception. There is no right or wrong way to arrive, just remember it is your day and for you to plan as you please, but be sure to plan any unconventional means of transport well in advance so that you have a chance to find suppliers, check the feasibility of your dream transport and make alternative plans if there are any problems. Whilst you may be delighted to travel in something a little strange, don't forget to make sure that appropriate arrangements have been made for the bridal party, and any guests that may need help with transport.

Lots of room, lots of luxury, ideal for the thoroughly modern wedding. Limousines provide not only style and luxurious transport, but have lots of room inside for a grand dress. If there is a large bridal party, a limousine may be a solution worth investigating.

Horse & Carriage;
If you would like to use a horse and carriage, it is essential to use a local company, and to ensure that the distance you need to travel is only short. Always inspect the carriage and make sure the horse is well cared for. There is no way to predict the weather, so check that there is an adequate canopy, you don't want to have your dress ruined en route if the heavens open. Try to plan a route on quite roads adding extra time if necessary as horses can get jittery in very heavy traffic.

What to check when booking;
- As with all wedding cars, inspection is essential. If it is an open-top car, make sure you see what kind of roof it has and make sure that it is in good condition when in position.
- Check what the driver will be wearing on the day, will he be uniformed?
- How many vehicles will you need to transport the wedding party from various locations?
- What type or model and size of vehicles will be used?
- Is the company a member of any association?
- Are the vehicles fully licensed and insured?
- What is the payment schedule, how much is the deposit, and when is it due and when is the balance due?
- Ask what alternative arrangements would be available should your chosen vehicle break down on the day (doubly important for classic and vintage cars).
- Make sure that there will be enough room for the bridal gown, train and veil so they will not be crushed before the ceremony.
- Be sure to check exactly what is included in the price, e.g. ribbons, champagne, and also whether the time spent waiting during the ceremony is inclusive.
- Confirm all booking details in writing, stating the pick-up times and the addresses of the bride's home, the ceremony venue and the reception venue.
What the contract should specify;
- Day, date, and time of wedding, reception, and photo shoot (if applicable).
- The hours for which you have contracted the vehicle(s) / driver(s).
- Location of pick-up and drop-off points.
- The number of people to be transported in each trip.
- The number and types of vehicles (if you've selected a specific vehicle, i.e. one seen at a wedding fayre, the registration number should be noted).
- Liability for accidents and damages.
- The hourly rate for each vehicle.
- Conditions for payment of overtime.
- Any additional fees and payment schedule: amount and due date of deposit; due date of balance of payment and the method of payment.
